In this seas on, the show wen t back to air ing one new epi sode a week , but stayed in the hour-length format, filling up the s econd half- hour with episodes from previou s seasons and s ome of the prime-time sp ecials fro m the 1 980s. This e ntire season , along w ith the sec ond half of se ason 6, is available on Garfield and Friends Volume 5 DVD set. Also wort h noting is tha t here, a ne w theme song was added t hat was w ritte n by J .R. Johnston and Neil Panto n. The t heme was sun g by J.R. Johnston. Th is theme song was not shown internationally, and as a r esult, it does not appear on the DVDs (al thou gh Garf ield's quotations are kept int act). This n ew intro duction sequence us ed most clips f rom Seaso ns 5-7 and a few from the first two seaso ns, as w ell as Garfield in Paradise and Garfield' s Fe line Fantasies.
