In this season, the sh ow went back to airin g one new episode a week, but stayed in t he hour-length format, fil ling up th e second half-hour with episodes from prev ious seasons and some of the prime-time specials f rom the 1980s . This entire season, along with the second half of season 6, is available o n Ga rfield and Friends Volume 5 DVD set. Also worth noting is that here, a new theme s ong w as added that was wr itten by J.R. Jo hnston and Nei l Panton. Th e theme w as sung by J.R. Johnston. This theme song was not shown inter nationally, and as a resul t, i t do es not appear on the DV Ds (althoug h Garfield's quotat ions are kept intact). This new introductio n sequence used most cli ps from Seasons 5-7 and a few from the first tw o sea sons, as we ll as Garfield in Paradise and Gar field's Feline Fantasies.
