In thi s seas on, the sh ow wen t back to airing one new episo de a week, b ut stayed in the h our-length format, f illing up the second half-hou r wit h episode s from p revious sea sons and some of the prim e-time sp ecia ls from the 1980s. This entire season, along w ith the second h alf of seas on 6, is ava ilable on Garfield and Friends Volume 5 DVD set. Also worth noting is that here, a new t heme son g was added that was written by J .R. Joh nston and Neil Pant on. The theme was sung by J. R. Johnston. This theme song was not shown internationally, and as a result, it does not appear on the D VDs (al though Garfield's quota tions are kept int act). This new introduction sequence u sed m ost clips from Sea sons 5-7 and a few from the first two seasons, as w ell as Ga rfield in Paradise and Garfield's Feline Fantasies .
