In this sea son, the show went back to airing one new episode a wee k, but stay ed in the hour-length format, filling up t he secon d half -hour with episodes from pr evious seasons and some of the prime-ti me specials fro m the 1980s. This entire seas on, alo ng with the second h alf of se ason 6, i s available on Garfield and Friends Volume 5 DVD set. A lso worth noting is tha t here, a new theme song was a dded that was written by J.R. Johnston and Neil Panton. The theme w as sun g by J.R . Jo hnston. This theme song was not shown internation ally, and as a r esult, it does not appe ar on the DVDs ( although Garfield's qu otations are kept in tact). This new introduction sequ ence used mo st clips from Seasons 5-7 and a f ew from t he first two seasons, as w ell as Garfie ld in Paradise an d Garfield's Feline F antasies.
