In this season, the show went back to airing one new episo de a week, but stayed in the hour-length format, filling up t he second half-h our with episodes from previo us seasons and some of the prime-time specials from the 1980s. This entire season, alon g with the second half of sea son 6, is available on Garf ield and F riends Volume 5 DVD set. Also worth noting i s that here, a new theme song was ad ded that was written by J.R. Johnston a nd Neil P anton. The theme was sung by J. R. Johnst on. This them e song was not shown in ternat ionally, and as a r esult, i t does not appear on the DVDs (although Garf ield's quot ations are kept intact). T his new i ntrod uction sequence used most clips from Seas ons 5-7 a nd a few from the first two seasons, as well as Garfield in Paradise and Ga rfield's Feline Fantasie s.
