In this se ason, the show went back to air ing on e new episode a week, but st ayed in the hour- length format, filling up the se cond half-hour with episodes from previous seaso ns and some of the prime-t ime specials from t he 1980s. This ent ire season, along with the second half o f season 6, is av ailab le on Garfield and Fri ends Volume 5 DVD set. A lso wo rth n oting is that here , a new theme song was added th at was written by J.R. Johnston and Neil Panto n. The theme was sung by J.R. Johnston. This theme song was not shown internationally , and as a result, i t does not appea r on the DVDs (altho ugh Garfield' s quotations are kept inta ct). Thi s new introduction sequence us ed most clips fr om Seasons 5-7 a nd a few from the first two seasons, as well as Garfield in Para dise and Garfield's F eline Fantas ies.
