They project female humanoid forms from magical ge mstones th at are the core o f their be ing. T he Crystal Gems are G arnet, Amethyst, Pearl and Steven , a young half-huma n, half-Gem boy who inh erit ed his gemst one from his mot her, the Ge ms' former leade r Rose Quartz. As Steve n trie s to fi gure out his powers, he spends his days wit h his human father Greg, his friend Connie, other people in Beach City, or the other Gems, w hether to help th em sav e th e world or ju st to hang out.
