A young boy takes his mother's pl ace in a group o f gemstone -based beings, a nd must learn to control his powers. This series is s et in the fi ctional Beach City, where ag eless alien warriors, t he Cr ysta l Gems, l ive in an ancient beach side te mple, protecting the world from evil. They project female humanoid forms fr om magical gem stones that are the core of their being. The Crystal Gems ar e Garnet, Amethyst, Pearl and Steven, a young half- human, half-Gem boy who inh erited h is gemstone f rom his moth er, the Gems' for mer leader Rose Quartz. As Steven tries to figure out hi s powers, he spends h is da ys with his human father Greg, his friend Connie, other p eople in Be ach City, or the other Gems, whether to help them save the w orld or just to han g out.
