They proje ct fe male humanoid forms f rom magical ge mstones that are the core of their being. The Crystal G ems are Garnet, Amethyst, Pearl and Steven , a you ng ha lf-human, ha lf-Gem boy who inherited his gemstone from his m other, th e Gems' former leader Rose Qua rtz. As Steven tries to figure out his powers, he spen ds his day s with his hu man f ather Greg, his friend Connie, other people in Beach Ci ty, or th e other Gem s, whether t o help th em sa ve the wo rld or just to hang out .
