Just as well as most of his l ife seems rather li ke pulli ng t eeth. His wi fe Susan is usually busy showing foreign tour ists around London, a p lace she knows much better than her own kitchen. Ben and Susan have been married happily enough to have three children. H owever, Be n has the feeling that most of the time his children seem t o speak a differe nt language . Nic k (20) has per suaded his parents he would benefit from a gap year to see something of the world. To date, he h as hardly seen a nything beyond the co nfines of the sofa.
