In this notorious Nazi propaga nda histori cal costume melodrama, a conniving, ambitious Jewish busi nessman, Suess O ppenheimer, snares a post as tre asurer to the Duke of Wurttemburg by showering the corr upt duke w ith treasure and promises of even greate r riches. As the Jew 's s chemes gro w more elaborate a nd his actions more brazen, the dukedom nearly erupts into civil war. Per suad ed by the Jew, the Duke all but sc uttles th e constit ution an d alienates the asse mbly by lift ing the l ocal ban on Jews in Stuttgart. In a final outrage, t he Jew rap es a wholesome Ger man girl an d tortures her father and fiancee. When th e Duke su ccumbs to a sudden hear t attack, the assembly of Elders try the Jew and sentence him to de ath for having "carnal knowl edge of a Christian woman."
