The series follows th e liv es of both the family and the servants in the L ondon townhouse at 165 Eaton Place. Richard Bellamy, the head of the househo ld, is a member of Parliame nt, and his wife a memb er of the titled aristoc racy. Belowstai rs, Hudson, the Sc ottish butler directs and g uides the other servants abo ut their tasks and (sometimes ) their prope r pla ce.
