CBS will be bringing back another one of its vet eran dramas for the 2019-20 TV season. Annou nced this aftern oon, the ne twork has officially renewed “NC IS” fo r its seve nteenth seas on. The news comes after star and executive producer , Mark Harm on, signed a new deal w ith CBS to reprise his role on the series. “NCIS has be en a gl obal juggernau t for almost two decades,” said C BS Entertainment President, Kelly Kahl. “Its viewers are cle arly the most loyal o f any dram a on television. They are passionat e about the chara cters , the plotlines and the sto rytelling. We owe a huge de bt of gratitude to the gifted production team and the cast, le d by t he extraordi nary Mark Harmon. We are d elighted that the sh ow will remain a linchpin of the CBS schedu le t his coming sea son.” In its current season, “N CIS” has be en averagi ng 12.2 million viewers in the live + same day r atings, making it TV’s second-most-watched scripted series, behind only “T he Big Bang Theory.” It has remained a strong performer for CBS, in both its r atings and viewership numbers, and was widely con sidered to be a strong rene wal contender l eading up to th e announceme nt tod ay.
