Series Eighteen starts a iring on 29 January 2012 wit h se ven episodes (n ot i nclu ding the India Special),[1] following on fro m the 2011 Christma s speci al which air ed on 28 De cember 2011 .[2] In the special they take a route across India, the first of the man y countries Top Gear plans to visit ov er the co urse of the new series, according to Jere my Clarks on. Shoo ting in Indi a began on 2 October, w ith the fir st leg of the shoot ing beginni ng in suburb s of Mumbai.[3][ 4] The show was also seen in Lecce, Italy with a Noble M600, McL aren MP 4-12 C and a Lamborgh ini Aventa dor.[5] Hammon d announced during the Top Gear Live shows in Birmingham, that ad dition al recordings for the new series had been done in the USA. The Janu ary 2012 edition of Top Gear Magazine featured a p review of wh at to ex pect in series 18 .[6] It included a piece where Richard Hammond drives a NASCAR safety car for a real race, later going on to drive an actual N ASCAR race car. The magazine also featured a part of some of the power tests to expect, incl uding Jeremy Clarkson d riving a Mercede s-Benz C63 AMG Black Edition, a Mercedes S LS AMG Ro adster and a Maserati GranTu rismo MC Stradale. Hammond meanwhile will drive a 2012 BMW M5 F10, and May wil l have a Vauxhall Corsa Nür burgrin g Edition. Another feature is going to China to test drive Chinese cars, Italy in 3 s uper-cars, Lambo rghini Avent ador, No ble M600 and a McLare n MP4- 12C. Also James May is t aking a trip to USA to test sports hybrid supe rcar Fisker Karma, meet AC /DC fr ontman Brian Johnso n and drive his 1928 Bent ley V anden Plas LeMans Tourer. Acc ording to T op Gear Executive Pro ducer Andy Wilm an, Clarks on, Hammond and May are going to n orthern Sweden as well, where th ey will rac e the new F errari FF acros s a Silve rstone Circuit-shaped ice tr ack.
