At a fashionable di nner party in H ong Kong a n aval officer is coaxed into rev ealing detai ls of a dream i n which eigh t persons take off from Bangkok in a Dakota b ound for Tokyo and crash in the Japanese mountains. Amongst those list ening is Air Marshal Hardie who is due to fly to Tokyo the next day. Hardie initial ly dis misse s the drea m becaus e he is sched uled to fly out i n a Liberator, but as Hardie arrives at the airport h e discovers that the Libera tor has developed mec hanical pr oblems and has been replaced by a Dakot a.
