Dave Cl iff, profes sor of comp uter sci ence and engineering a t Brist ol Unive rsity, is no abstract theoretician. 15 years ago he combined logic and a bit of maths to write one of the first comp uter programs to outperf orm humans at trad ing stocks and shares. Giv ing away the s oftware fo r free, he says, was not his most log ical mov e... With the help of 25 seven-year-olds, Professor Cliff creates, for the first ti me ev er, a computer made entir ely of children, runni ng on nothing but logic .
