Min Ji-suk runs a ticket barwhere custome rs can purchase ticke ts for certain s ervi cesin the town of Sokcho in Gangwon-do. She hires Mi ss Y ang ( Ahn So-young), Miss Hong (Lee Hye-you ng), and Se-young ( Jeon Se-young) t hroug h the emplo yment agen cy. Miss Yan g and Mi ss Hong, who are well exp erienced in this type of b usin ess, are used to a ccepting propositions from custo mers. Bu t Se-young, wh o is dati ng a college studen t named Min -su, reject s all re quests for sexual favors. Whe n Min-su professes to having problems with his tuitio n and fina nces, Se-young reas sures hi m that she wil l procure the necessary funds for him. When the bar's clientele b egins to dwindl e because of Se-young, Ji-s uk reprimands her severely. Se-young dev elops a close relatio nship with a Ca ptain Pak and even allows h im to sleep with he r. Sh e asks Captain P ak to find Min-su emp loyment on a boat, but when Min-su come s to Sokcho fo r his new job, he sees how Se-young has been ma king he r living. Shocked, he turns his b ack on t he job and l eaves. When he eventually returns to Sokcho, h e sc athingly de nounces S e-young's morality and severs their relationship. Deca des ago, Ji-suk had stumbled into the ba r busi ness i n a desper ate effor t to support he r husband, who was serving time in prison; she l ater left him voluntarily out of shame and moral degradation. Concerned tha t Se-young will end up with t he same fate, Ji-suk asks Min-su to meet with her. She begs him not to abando n Se-young, but he flatly refuses.
